I felt a sad emotion for all the years I’ve had to carry this feeling of “not good enough” and know I have not been fully my true nature and probably harmed others by carrying this level of angst.
The love that I have been feeling desperate to get from others was readily, willingly and freely given to my self by my self. Grasping was stopped. No longer in want, I felt full and complete-lacking nothing.
Acknowledgement of pain helps me to realize that it’s another wave and not the whole ocean, as you said. The hand on heart then links me to my kind and wise larger self.
As a mindfulness practitioner who has only been practicing 60 days straight I’m new and do not help others yet. However I desperately need to have this kind of experienced therapy and I am seeking it through my mental health provider because I simply cannot pray for it at full price. This really hit home for me!
I was overcome by a wave of deep grief, seemingly eternal sadness, wrenching sobbing. The “mantras” I told myself — “This is suffering.” “This really hurts.” “I am with you.” “This too shall pass.” — helped introduce a sweetness in me, allowed me to smile, though this stood quite overshadowed by the pain and sadness. I hope indeed that practicing a few hundred times will begin to make a difference. I so look forward to it.
o yes, what feelings came up: i felt that once again i may return to my counseling profession, somewhat changed (due to severe illness) and at the same time, more gently accepting of my new self, less critical of her, and even better able to apply these teachings to her and others. I found myself more responsive, and less reactive, to my ex partner, in that he really is a good guy taking care of our son. In this exercise, I also got a clear directive to simply kindly let go of people that do not resonate with me, and that it is no character flaw on their part.
a feeling of deeper compassion for myself as I walk with my husband who is walking with MCI (mild cognitive impairment), & a feeling of gratitude that he is aware of what is going on & that we are on this journey together
I felt calm, happy, and at ease. I felt tension leaving my body that I didn’t know I had been holding. I felt embraced like a small child in the arms of a caring and wise elder.
Made me cry… I told myself I am loveable
I feel scared that romantic partners will leave me because they will stop caring for me or be interested in getting to know me on an intimate level (many experiences of being left have created these feelings)
As you pointed out, when we are insecure and have inner conflict we can poison our relationships with others.
This terrifies me.
Practicing this on myself so that when I return to working with clients I will have embodies this positive Truth. I am myself presently on medical leave though thanks to teachings of all of you I will to a happy surprise, return. This self re wiring is key. thank you!
When I put my hand on my heart to offer self kindness, in that small moment, I saw how long the hurt and alone the child part of me has existed for all these years. I experienced a rush of emotion from this simple practice of self compassion.
Doing this three-fold practice leads me to feelings of peace, stillness, spaciousness, relaxation – and a feeling of being held in love.
I find standing as witness disentangles engagement without denying the feeling.
This gives space for compassion, interconnectedness, appreciative joy, deep listening and an invitation to empathic intercommunion with others. Space opens up where WE can spend loving appreciative time together.
If this reconfigures the brain, great!
When a mindfulness bell strikes, may I stop and run mindfully through these steps. Then bow to myself in gratitude.
Your words are wise. I realized while I was doing the final exercise how difficult it was for me to “perform” what was essentially information I received intellectually, on an emotional level. I will do this exercise again when I am again in my body,

It was interesting and positive. I felt a subtle inner smile and a relaxed sense of acceptance. I find this promising because I happen to be in a calm state in the middle of my 1st cup of coffee with not much going on emotionally. I imagine it would be more powerful in a moment of distress.
I’m grateful for this training and find it refreshing!
Thank-you kindly for your offering and workable tool of liberation upon seeing feeling and being. Placing my hands using the gesture of kindness practice supports the returning back to home i.e heart intelligence and in my experience placing my hands on the body parts that feels uptight or tension helps me to calm down and return back to sanity after for example an unfoldment of rage. It has the same soothing calm effect on my nervous system, like stroking a pet or touching a fluffy object or digging my hands into the earth.
The challenge is to remember in the moment to intervene discern when the mental affliction&emotion is in its mastery of intensification outburst of strong difficult energy, key for myself is to refrain from acting it out unskilful. Thank-you warmly for the 3 skilful anchor points and I take away to practice focus more on ‘speaking out loudly’ This hurts, This is Suffering, in this way to stay in contact with what is and inform the other person for example if they said or did something that I experienced painfully, this is liberating, thank-you

This is so very helpful. I have been walking around with guilt & shame for 50 plus years. To finally give myself the gifts of reason, empathy & compassion and learn I am not my thoughts makes me feel so joyful and light. I so appreciate you! Thank you!
Caring about my deepest needs maked me widen. This wideness- sofness allows that the needs of others can be here, too and I have the capacity to be wih them instead of trying to resolve the situation for others.
Really did connect with how hard self judgement has been in my own life, has stopped me from realizing larger connections and belief in my capabilities. Touching my heart is a practice that I have used in the past and is a really good reminder of how big a blessing the softness of the heart and life is.
This is a good invitation to see my uncomfortable thoughts and to recognize them as thought’s and learn to let them go more easily. thank you for the clear, simple video.

I seek out Tara’s healing practices, which are profound. When I put my hand on my heart, there is first a flood of self-compassion for how hard my current challenges are, and then a huge well-spring of sorrow for all the terrible things happening in the world, and a deep sense of grief and despair. I remember equanimity, and that nothing is real; love is all there is. There seems to be a disconnect between Source and manifestation, where stuff is just ground out, totally lacking in love or understanding. That is the place I want to send healing and open to the Spirits to transform.
Tara, thank you for your insights and your depth of practice. I was able to get in touch with my emotion involved when I recalled the experience of hurting another; when I touched my heart with both hands and breathed in self forgivness, I felt a calm peace in my heart; letting go, breathing out. More to do.

I will use these ideas to find kind and loving ways to heal some of the close relationships in my life that have been strained by the pandemic and the differing views on vaccination and government policies. I will use these ideas too for myself to evolve as an engaged human being in this world that is suffering but is still so full of beauty.
Trying to avoid the inner critique when going through tough situations and loss. Your voice is truly comforting me and I take advantage of this video as well as sharing with my friends. Thank you Tara!
I feel a sense of tenderness and care. I can use these ideas with clients by guiding them in this process and encouraging them to practice these skillful means.
