I truly appreciate these teachings. In situations when I have employed pausing, leaning in and exploring the feeling in mind and body, then holding that feeling with gentleness and self-compassion, it has been so helpful. It provides greater clarity and sense of purpose. Thank you for offering this!
I’d go out into the world, be myself, and be with myself light-heartedly, instead of holding back and adjusting to the expectations of others out of fear of not fitting in and being left out.
I would be a calm, contented spouse, mother, daughter and health care provider without the routine feelings of self-doubt and fear/anxiety that I feel more often than not. These videos are so helpful and go nicely with the Stress Mastery program I am enrolled in. Thanks so much!
who would I be… willing to speak and show my true self and able to do it in a pleasing welcoming manner.
I would complete heart desired projects and sleep well!
I would completely follow my passions without that fear of failure. I would truly live life, fully, in the moment. I would feel more joy and sorrow and be thankful for both and all the things in between.
I feel so much better after only 30 minutes of instruction on how to reduce my anxiety and remember that my brain is still plastic, that I can change these infinite loops of suffering, and that I can have a positive somatic effect. The reduction in cortisol and stress hormones will enhance the already cutting edge gene therapy I am receiving for Stage IV breast cancer. I want to remain in remission, and changing my thinking habits is not only an exciting prospect, but also may increase my survival. Thank you so much. I can finally see that freedom is possible.
Thank you for the question “Who would you be if you didn’t believe that something was wrong with you?” It’s touched off a storm of thoughts & emotions that I will be meditating on this week. I appreciate these 3 videos, as fear has become a huge barrier in my life in the last decade.
Hugely helpful! Very much appreciate Tara sharing her knowledge and wisdom through this series. As someone who regularly battles an unwanted judgmental spirit, I can see that fear is the fuel that keeps it going.
So I will be fearless and post a couple of comments that I think will not be well received. When I work with students about their test anxiety, one of my first questions is, “Have you read and studied the material?” If they answer no, then their anxiety is real and valid and they need to go study. If they answer yes and they are prepared, then these techniques work.
Many years ago as young woman I was driving with my 6 year old son from California to Colorado by my self, a two and a half day drive. I was very anxious about this trip. What if something went wrong with my car and I was out in the middle of nowhere? So I did 4 things. Got the car tuned up, so it was in the best possible shape. I then recruited 2 trusted people who knew about cars to be available to help me, if needed (This was before cell phones). One person on the California end and one person on the Colorado end. I also used AAA to plan my route and reserve safe hotels for me. I was still anxious, but now felt confident enough and prepared enough to face the journey.
Some times you need to use the fear/anxiety and do a reality check.
I appreciate the question, “What am I afraid of feeling?” It safer to sit in the discomfort we know, than explore the unfamiliar. Both, “Who will you be if you didn’t believe something was wrong with you?” and “Maybe real, it is it true?” are helpful to begin disrupting the narrative/loop and begin to gently change perspective.
Thanks for such practical and usable processes. Your teachings are so clear, Tara. I’ve gained so much from these short videos and the other very helpful NICABM offerings! Making them available free enables those of us on limited incomes to gain so much.
Kudos to you all…Tara, Ruth and so many others!
This is very helpful in acquiring new ways to explain to people how to reduce the power they give to things that seem to be controlling them. I’m so glad I’m a part of this and appreciate it.
Thank you so much for your insightful ideas! A number of my clients will find this question very useful, and I can imagine now some of their answers.
As for me, I was lucky to grow in a (Winnicott’s) “Holding Environment”, in fearless house. I answered this question when I was in therapy myself, made a switch in my career and work as a psychologist the last ten years.
Once more, thank you so much! -T
I love these videos, I would really like the free audio on the 3 step practice from the last video as well as if I could get all of these audios. I really need this help, Tara. Thank you so very much for all you do.

The fear of overexposing myself has been haunting me. Agoraphobic for years I stay and work at home and have the presence and company of my grand children. If I could do it, fearlessly, i would be more confident and believe in myself.
Very nurturing question “Who would l be me if I don’t believe something was wrong with me?”. I would just be what I am instead of hiding myself, I would share my wisdom without fear.
Thank you so much Tara for the healing wisdom you offer with abundance. As I realize there is truly nothing wrong with me and I am “good enough no matter what, I am free to enjoy live and trust I will eventually find the jewel in every situation–even the one’s I initially resist.
Excellent free series. Fear and shame is a constant struggle after a decade of childhood abuse. I’m very much looking forward to the six week program. Thank you kindly Tara.
Really benefitted from all three presentations. Liked them so much, I forwarded them to friends. Appreciated Tara’s peaceful and gentle presentations. Enjoyed her book and look forward to more of your offerings. These were terrific in their simple and direction and useful suggestions.
I can see application in several clients, from children to senior adults. This fear and anxiety is becoming more and more evident in younger children and can be very frightening for parents.
I would be the person I always dreamt of being but was haunted and scared of being a failure or being inadequate. I would be a writer. I would feel free without fear.
Who would I be? That has been a question I have asked myself many times. I believe I would be more adventurous and fearless in my approach to life. The fear of rejection and failure are prevelant in most of my life.
