This has been so helpful. I’ve been working on self-compassion for a few years and each thing that I learn, along the way, is another step.
I’d love to have these 3 videos to keep and watch whenever I need a “booster.” Any chance that you’d make them available to buy?
Thank you.
I would be at peace with myself. My heart pain would ease and i would realize we all have our own pain of some kind and that compassion is what we all and the world needs. Thank you.
This practice bought me to tears as it released emotional blocks that I have had for 50 years. It made me feel sorry for the person who has down such wrong by me and my kids but also I could feel the trap their leg was caught in but also felt some blame that I was the cause of that trap that caused them to hurry us so deeply. This practice may help me to forgive but it will take a lot of practice and time but is something that I need to doc to move forward in order to allow myself not to be bitter and to be able to ever feel love for myself and be loved by another. Thankyou for showing me a way out of this entrapment.
Tara – I’ve been on the journey of healing for decades. And I must say I’ve come a long way. But one thing has been super stubborn and my mentors and teachers have commented that it was the one thing we hadn’t been able to crack. Yep … self judgment. I must say your 3 videos shared this in a way that touched my heart. Allowed me to have compassion for myself for the first time. They say, when the time is right … the teacher will appear. Thank you for appearing in my Inbox. I look forward to more to come. The door has been cracked and transformation, I can see it, is on the doorstep. Much appreciation, Renee
Love these practices! Thank you so much!
Beautiful! I feel so peaceful and loving towards myself and those who have injured me. I can’t wait to use these in my own life and with my clients!
That is a reality good question. I’ve asked myself that before, and there is a real unknown i experience. It used to feel like a blankness without hope. This time I felt a blankness like an empty canvas that is ready for any possibility and a sense of openness to what may come – if I let it.
I’d been blaming my daughter for not being empathetic and I realized that it is probably my fault. Now I’m blaming myself more now than before, but I can work on this. This is better than the alienation I was feeling towards my daughter. I’m going to work on lesson 2 again.
Realize I don’t know whom I blame….will have to work on that a lot….probably too afraid of making others angry to blame anyone. A surprising discovery. Hope I can figure it out.
I think I would be soft, open and vulnerable. These practices seem to really help in a simple and effective way to accept these characteristics rather than defend against them. Thank you so much.
Very insightful of changing ones unworthiness into self compassion, with all the layers of self loathing being turned around through seeing the the wounds in the ones who have caused the pain in our selves. Reflecting and mediating on self compassion. Thank you for sharing your understanding and personal story of change. I look forward to using these tools in my own practice with care.
Hi Tara
Thanks for your support and insight:) I have a client who is not coping with the death of his spouse & wants to end his life & be with her………..although he’s tearful he’s also quite matter of fact & I guess self compassion won’t work …….. what do you suggest?…….
Thank You ? I found compassion for my self and the other person, in the turn around.
I discovered that I have an issue of not feeling loved, when growing up in a large family I never felt love, therefore having relationships that don’t last.
I am learning to love myself.
This is good for me to finally see why I it is so important now, to have the love and compassion for myself, and not blame the others, more practice is needed. Thank You ? again Tara.
Love these teachings thank you Tara, you change lives. I was helped through a painful situation, feeling cut off and pushed out by my teenage daughter, I’d lost her. These teachings enabled me to get underneath what it was bringing up for me, a sense of shame and unworthiness. Through that I found compassion for myself, then I could see her fear and pain. It’s so easy to build up a story based on judgement and blame, causing so much pain and separation. The compassion gave me access to having a really difficult conversation and it has melted away the issues, it feels as if we’ve renewed our connection. I now feel at peace…. thank you ? Jane
It is difficult to even envision this person. I feel that there is so little of “me” in there, that there would be nothing left. I can logically see the benefit of this practice, but I definitely feel resistance within myself, perhaps because I am afraid of what I might find.
I am a counselor working with substance use clients. I see a lot of childhood trauma.
I see that understand brings compassion and that has changed client’s lives.
Thank you for the videos they are a very good resource and I have learned a lot.
Very informative. It’s always easy to forget that the person you wish to blame is also vulnerable–and with that comes compassion. The U-Turn exercise is a challenge. But by practicing mindfulness and being around people who support us, I believe that helps us slowly engage with our feelings in a productive way. It’s hard to do it alone. Thanks for your knowledge and wisdom.
If I would let go of judging and blaming me then my heart would lighten up, I could rise to fearlessness and come closer to who I truly am, I could be free.
Thank you for all your online talks and meditations which have helped me much.
