Here in the northeast, we’ve gone through quite a winter.
Now I know it could always be worse (and there are other places in the world that got hit a whole lot harder than we did), but I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever see flowers blooming again.
And to top it all off, over the weekend, I got hit with the flu and was sicker than I’ve been in at least 30 years.
But yesterday, as my symptoms started to ease a bit, I walked outside to the sun beating down on my face, a gentle breeze blowing, and a group of green buds awakening from their winter slumber.
Spring is here, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
So to celebrate the birth of a new season, and nature’s reawakening, I wanted to share something with you today.
I hope it will inspire you to open your heart to new possibilities, just as the flowers and trees are beginning to open and bloom.
By Ruth Buczynski
May you have big dreams, far beyond anything you can imagine today
May you trust that you have special gifts and vow to share them with the world
May you walk side by side with your fear, and know that being afraid is human
May you refuse to give up in the face of uncertainty or “something different”
May you learn how to say no and when to say yes
May your discomfort with complacency eclipse your fear of failure or the unknown
May you resolve to just “go for it” even when the world tries to hold you back
May you never settle for “good enough” when you can have much more
May you find fulfillment in your successes and motivation in your failures
May you leave your doubts behind you and never back away from a challenge
May you cast off the shell that keeps you from blossoming, and never crawl back into it – no matter what life throws at you
May you never be limited by anyone, not even yourself
May you find wealth in love, happiness, and success
Remember, you have the gift to help make a real difference in the world.
What do you use to pick yourself up when you need a little inspiration?

Hello Ruth,
Hope you are now fully recovered.
I love your poem. All very positive bits of advice ! Will reread it over and over!!
For inspiration I recall my positive involvement in working with an organisation to help underprivileged children in my community for many years – I am still involved to a lesser extent.
Working on being more positive – I want to restart painting again.
Thanks,
Susan

A bit like Western spiritual capitalism–success on all levels. My preference is “say yes to life” in all its manifestations…breathe and say yes.

Thank you! Your prayer is inspriational and healing. I feel so blessed.
My “pick-me-ups” include getting my hands in the soil, a walk in brisk air with my face to the sun, snuggling with my dog, singing, or creating with kids. Whatever is an opposite of what I have been doing usually does the trick. Meditation is always a part but I usually have to begin with some sort of physical exertion.

Love of self and the gift of life I have been given.
Choosing to stop harmful or negative thoughts and elevating those thought to allow for a positive perspective. That meditative process, best practiced in quiet, alone and with a peaceful mind. Sometimes the effect is immediate and sometimes it takes longer and inevitably get me to that positive place.

The egg is on the Passover plate at this time of year not coincidentally to present the opportunity to gather the recharging, renewing thoughts that Ruth sends us : a great warmup ( pun intended ).

Hi Ruth,
Sorry to hear you have been sick. I had that same Flu about a month ago: it wiped me out, and like you hadn’t been sick like that for a long time – 50 years, in my case; I was home for 2 weeks, and now, over a month ago, even though my previous high energy level has, thankfully, returned, still, occasionally feel gunk in my lungs, which I have difficulty clearing out. Please take the time to rest and recover! You do wonderful, important work, and we need you well: I am so grateful to have stumbled upon your site, and to receive the current, cutting edge Brain Science information you provide; it is fascinating, enlightening, and inspiring!
Thank you for the wonderful, loving, kind and inspirational Prayer for Pioneers… It is a blessing!
Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery!
In gratitude,
John

Oh, Ruth, what a wonderful prayer. I would like to post it on my Facebook page. I teach international students from many different spiritual / religious backgrounds, and I think your inspiration would touch them directly. As a teacher, I look at the faces and imagine the day when the people I have been teaching appear on the public “stage” and make a difference. To name us Pioneers is perfect.
Cassandra Ardoin, Psychological Examiner, Nashville, TN says
Ruth, thank you for words today. An illness is such a humbling experience which, on a good day, makes us ripe for gratitude! Clare, thank you for sharing your love. Stay strong.
Gerda Van Dyck,MSW, Cleveland OHIO says
I, too, spent the past 2 weeks with a virulent ‘flu. I had traveled across the country to
attend my kid brother’s funeral. My experience of being prone on either my bed, my sofa or my imrs mat was just what I needed: a total cleansing of my being on all levels. My inspiration was that total acceptance leads to mindfulness and peace. In 3 years I had never reclined in my living room and learning what the world looks like from that vantage point has given me an enormous appreciation of the gifts Life has given us. My heart expands to embrace all who suffer
and wish them the wisdom and beauty of your amazing inspirational poem. Thank you for all
you give and allow to be given. I shall cherish both of our experiences and pass them on.

Here is the fastest way to get better.
Two glass containers with water.
One has 27oz of best water you have and add 3oz of fresh lemon.
Not real lemon from the bottle.
The other 30oz of straight water. ( Distilled is best )
But any water will work.
Drink 4oz of sour one on the hour and 4oz of straight water on the half hour.
You can do it everyday until you are better.

i love your poem and am grateful to have your inspiration as a daily reminder! Glad you are feeling so much better. Remembering what Mother Theresa said, “I shall always go to a peace rally, but stay away from an anti war rally.” So, I changed a few words to make it all positive for me……”May you release settling for “good enough”…….”May you leave your doubts behind you and morve forward toward new challenges………and be free from crawling back into it…….may you release all limitations from others and yourself.
Continued healing into spring!

Such beautiful poem/prayer and what an inspiration!
We surely need to start anew after the long winter months, although I personally cannot complain, living in Portugal is paradise! Mother nature is the “best” inspiration of all! The sea and the waves rolling and crashing on the rocks, the green and yellow hills, flowers blossoming everywhere…..so much beauty!
Yes, I couldn´t agree more, we all have gifts to help make a difference in the world!
Thank you Ruth so much for this wonderful reminder!

Perfect timing, Ruth, thank you. I’m printing this and posting it above my computer; I’ll probably read it to my yoga classes next week as well.
I’ve noticed that people are more aware this year of the delicate beauty of our spring blooms, and are eagerly anticipating signs of green in our battered lawns. Sometimes it takes a rough winter or a wicked flu to open our hearts to what is around us: Beauty, joy, rebirth. Yay!
Jennifer Brown, Naturopathic Doctor, Ontario/Canada says
What a beautiful article. I love the “Prayer for Pioneers”. That is something I will definitely come back to and share with others.
For inspiration, I love to take 5 minutes and list everything I can think of that I am grateful for. I also love listening to Law of Attraction/Abraham Hicks audio CDs because it reminds me of what is possible and never to settle. I love driving on a sunny day listening to great music. And I love thinking about what I love, so thank you for the opportunity to do that here today!
Happy to hear you are feeling better! I’ve had a week that parallels in some ways to your, so it’s interesting timing.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful writing. The prayer will be a new addition to my list of things I go to for inspiration. 🙂

Hi Ruth
I love this poem and agree that we need to take care of ourselves and recharge our energy.
My shell is my comfort zone, but I just got the visual of crawling back into it and I see that I do it too easily – not sure if I can say I’ll never crawl back into it, but the visual will help me to resist it.
Thanks for your inspiration!

I empathize with your experience, Ruth, and feel your inspiration. Love and gratitude are profound vibrations that are powerfully healing and balancing. Most importantly, it’s important for each of us to be in the now…present with what is.Too often we defer to some future point of fulfillment…when I have a better job, a better relationship, better health. Yet in every moment, we are each an expression of the divine. We each have a purpose. We are each connected. And to me, the highest purpose is supporting and helping one another in life (whether one is in the profession or not, one has a clear circle of influence). So thank you, Ruth, for your continued inspiration and for touching so many in your ever increasing circle of influence.
Jill Willett-Sewall, LCPC Dyer Brook, ME says

Gratitude for good health … Getting well is much like the awaited spring , it feels good and gives us hope for good things to come! Out of your illness brought the inspiration to share the poem. It reminded me of places where I’ve been and places that are still around in my soul . It brought a gentle sweet awareness to me in my early morning.,, I am grateful today! May your recovery be swift to come. And thank you .

How beautifully you express your love and good wishes for us all in your poem, thanks so much Ruth. So glad to hear you are recovering from the flu. It is spring here in the UK and like you I am so enjoying its arrival. We have had a wet winter, grey skies and short days. Now we are blessed with the blossomest blossom and spring bulbs emerging with their glorious palette of colours. We do have much to be grateful for. Bless your dear heart.

Clare, Melbourne Australia says
I’ve been living a pretend life for many years. At my birth, because I had a penis and testicles, I was pronounced a boy.
For the next 50 years, I accepted that decision, and I did everything to fulfill the expectations of my parents, my society, my friends. I played football, I married and divorced three times, I fathered seven children.
I really tried to be the man/husband/father I felt I should be.
But all those years I knew I was different, and I shamefully and secretly did what I needed to do to express the woman inside me. I borrowed, stole, bought and hid anything I could to allow myself to dress and feel like a girl/woman. I had so many items of girl clothing hidden in secret places, some of which are probably still there.
Then one day I decided to allow my woman self to come to the surface, and over a couple of years, with the support of the Monash Gender Centre and some wonderful friends, I am a woman.
I live, work and socialise as Clare, I have changed my name and I am so deeply happy that I feel like I am living a dream that keeps going.
I used to be terrified that the dream would end and I would wake up, but it just keeps getting better and better.
When I need a little inspiration, when I’m feeling stressed, down and anxious, I just remind myself that I am a woman, with all the joy that brings, and I feel that amazing, all-encompassing happiness that makes everything else fade into the background.
I just so love being a woman, I don’t care about anything else.
If I die tomorrow, I’ll go with a big smile on my face, for I have lived one more day as a woman
Bless you all, Clare
