Here in the northeast, we’ve gone through quite a winter.
Now I know it could always be worse (and there are other places in the world that got hit a whole lot harder than we did), but I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever see flowers blooming again.
And to top it all off, over the weekend, I got hit with the flu and was sicker than I’ve been in at least 30 years.
But yesterday, as my symptoms started to ease a bit, I walked outside to the sun beating down on my face, a gentle breeze blowing, and a group of green buds awakening from their winter slumber.
Spring is here, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
So to celebrate the birth of a new season, and nature’s reawakening, I wanted to share something with you today.
I hope it will inspire you to open your heart to new possibilities, just as the flowers and trees are beginning to open and bloom.
By Ruth Buczynski
May you have big dreams, far beyond anything you can imagine today
May you trust that you have special gifts and vow to share them with the world
May you walk side by side with your fear, and know that being afraid is human
May you refuse to give up in the face of uncertainty or “something different”
May you learn how to say no and when to say yes
May your discomfort with complacency eclipse your fear of failure or the unknown
May you resolve to just “go for it” even when the world tries to hold you back
May you never settle for “good enough” when you can have much more
May you find fulfillment in your successes and motivation in your failures
May you leave your doubts behind you and never back away from a challenge
May you cast off the shell that keeps you from blossoming, and never crawl back into it – no matter what life throws at you
May you never be limited by anyone, not even yourself
May you find wealth in love, happiness, and success
Remember, you have the gift to help make a real difference in the world.
What do you use to pick yourself up when you need a little inspiration?
Please let us know in the comments section below, I look forward to hearing what inspires you.

Nina, Life Coach, Los Angeles, CA says
My dear Ruth,
Thank you for that lovely poem about the spring of our life. I am radiating to you healing energy to bathe your whole being. You are such a gift to the healing community. Thank you for giving.
When my body is compromised, I use the Louise L. Hay book: “You Can Heal Your Life” to find the probable cause and the subsequent new thought pattern for healing. All healings starts in our minds.
Fear is a component of our life. I think of life as a coin with two sides: Love/Fear both sides of life.
Love: Light-Only-Very-Essence/ Fear: Fully-Engaged-And Ready-Ride. I find the center and be still.
Again, seeing you whole and completely healed. Life comes to us with ease, joy and glory.
We accept it with grace, gratitude and Thanks.
Always
Nina

Mary Ann Ribble says
Dear Ruth,
I have just begun writing in a more focused way
In the last year-
This came very clearly within while I read your
Poem of compassion, motivational support and
Joy:
Know that we can NEVER really crawl back into
our Bud /husk, it may only appear that we can.
it truly is beyond our will to control this Urge
of Life to Live through us!
like the butterfly, once we have crawled out
of our cocoon, it shrivels and dries up, no longer
able to house the butterfly we have become!
This truth of our Soul’s growth, and the inevitability
of It’s Expression IS Natural Law of this Beloved
Universe of which We are All a Necessary part
Just as we are Now and will grow to Be
Forevermore!
Much Joy to you!

Ruth, so happy to hear you are feeling better! Have already shared your poem on Facebook and with friends – what a blessing you and your work are, thank you. Here is a poem I was “inspired” to write that may seem not politically correct these days, yet it expresses my Thank You and over the years I have been known to change words in my inspirational poems to fit whatever my current “beliefs” or thoughts are:
Thank You
Your face may be downcast,
but I know you have a happy heart.
Your eyes may be sad,
but I know that depth & sparkle reside there.
Your voice may be halting or chastizing or may be in
an inaudible range, but all I hear is
beautiful music sung in unison.
Your shoulders may be weak & weary,
but I know your burden’s really light.
Your hands may be burned & itchy & frightened
from love’s healing flame,
but I know the gift of healing is your gift
you give yourself–please forgive!
Your feet may be unsteady–running too hard or
standing to long in a puddle of rain water,
but I know you stand on firm ground.
Your body may be earth,
but you know it’s an instrument–let it rejoice!
Your mind may be confused or far too clear,
but I know you know.
Your heart may be breaking or soaring,
but I know it’s calm & vibrant & expanding.
Your soul may be lost & found,
but I know it just is–you live!
I don’t know–You don’t know,
but we both do know.
God is a rainbow of Love & we all are His arrows.
For your form & expression are different,
& yet–we are all the same.
Thank you for your truth & beauty!

Ruth, so nice and sweet and connected your poem. Thank you so much. It continues to admire me your great work, the honesty, vulnerability and sincerity you show in all you do, I feel already deeply connected to Nicabm as a community, THANK YOU SO MUCH, I wish you the best for your health and to keep on doing this wonderful work,
Specially these days when I´m quarrelling with a bad organization which offers Mindfulness courses in Barcelona and represents nothing but the opposite to a mindful practice and teaching, making it so difficult to study with them, not facilitating any material, not answering emails, not being able to talk or have any kind of response from them but arrogance and conditions beyond anything acceptable.. I feel your work is helping me so much, seeing that something different is possible, living according to human heart-felt values and teachings, integrating them in your own life, caring for yourself and others is not only possible but certainly the best way to live a happy fullfilled life in connection with all of us. I feel your honesty and love. So thank you again, so much, for your precious dedication and commitment to it, for the time and energy you put in this work. Kind regards. Namaste

Cristina Rachid, singer/songwriter, São Paulo, Brazil says
Hello from Brazil
When I find myself in a moment of despair, or even in a moment of anxiety I go back where I came from then move forward where I am and go through every little moment that put me down: and the reasons are the same, always: not wanting to change, old patterns, stuck in the past, fear, lack of respect for myself and others, resentment. Then, I do something good for someone: a compliment, buy a gift, help with nice words, call someone to say hello, or even go for a walk with my lovely dog. Sometimes takes longer than that to feel better, but up till now was the reason I am here on my feet. Hope you are feeling better Ruth!
MJ, RN , Cambridge, Massachusetts says
Thank you Cristina for sharing your skillful means to healing. Identifying where I am stuck, then helping others and appreciating the moment is always effective for me as well. May you be blessed with many moments of joy.

Hi Robin! Thanks for the comments!Ruth Etting’s caeerr slowed down for a couple of reasons. First, the torch singer genre was already waning in popularity, and while I think she could sing anything well, her popularity was built on being the happy singer of sad songs. Second, she had moved to Hollywood and was doing movies, and she was in her mid-thirties in none of her movies does she look as fresh-faced as the ingenue, and they never gave her much to do. Perhaps if she’d stayed in New York, and kept doing Broadway her caeerr might have gone on a little longer? It’s hard to say? And then third, in 1937, her ex-husband shot her new love, and while today that kind of scandal would likely translate into a boost in popularity, and new opportunities, back then it was different, and the scandal effectively ended her caeerr. In 1938 she married her new love, Mryl Alderman, and they bought a house in Colorado Springs, supposedly as a retirement home. But Ruth was only 41 and Myrl 31 so it wasn’t a real retirement! They ended up turning their home into a restaurant called The T-Bone Club. I don’t know how many years they ran it, but it still exists today, as the . Then in 1947, when she was 50, she briefly had a radio show, and . After 28-years together, Myrl died in 1966, at age 58 very young! Ruth lived another dozen years, passing on in 1978, at 81.

Ruth is a dazzling woman. It is amnaizg for a 100 year old woman to have a very flexible and energetic body like this. She has proven that age is not an impediment to have strong bones and a flexible body as long as there is discipline, determination, and dedication. With a positive mental attitude, even a hundred year old woman like Ruth can gracefully do Pilates.

Many thanks Ruth, for this powerful prayer! Reading it is like drinking from the WELL of LOVE! I have already shared it with clients and I am including it in my daily recharge time. I have put it in my phone so it is always with me to share with others. I find a good ‘pick me up’ occurs when we do a simple ‘wash away the blahs’ meditation. This can take less than a minute or you can spend longer if you like. I am happy to share it with you here.
In standing, close your eyes and imagine there is a lotus bud at the top of your head (at your crown chakra.)
The lotus bud unfolds and there is a small pond in the center of the flower.
Ask for one drop of cleansing water to come into the pond.
This drop then goes all through your body, refreshing your whole being and washing out any heavy and stagnant energy.
With each in breath, breathe in joy, clarity, and any other essence you would like.
With each out breath, breathe out fatigue, and any other unwanted energies.
Keep doing this throughout this exercise.
Next, ask for another drop of this essence three times as strong as the first one.
Start at your head and feel it going down through your whole body, bringing lightness of mind, body and spirit, washing away any unwanted feelings.
Finally, ask for a drop as strong as your being can take, feeling refreshing, brilliant energy coming in, dull, unwanted energies leaving.
When you are done, imagine the lotus bud at the top of your head returning to bud form, open your eyes, feeling centered, grounded, refreshed and inspired to go shine your brilliance!
I hope you find this useful. With love and gratitude, Sandra

Thank you Ruth for this poem. I’m going to share it on my FB page as there are a few people in my life who would benefit from reading it. There are so many of us that do push out into the unknown with nothing to guide and support us but a gut feeling that there is a better way, place, road, option, strategy, “something” waiting for us. Often we feel alone and without support in our endeavors. No one to tell us everything you summed up in your powerful poem. This week was particularly rough but thanks to your words I feel a little more bolstered.
Over the last few years I have become very spiritual and am in touch with the universal power that connects us all. I know of your connection with Tara Brach. Tara has been a very important part of my growth in spirituality and every chance I get I try and listen to her podcasts and have read some of her books. Every time I’m in a dark place I listen to her endless spiritual wisdom and she helps guide the way.
Thank you for starting my day with this poem. I will keep it close and share it every time someone I know needs it.
Light, love and healing energy your way so that you feel better soon.
Millie

Hi Ruth, glad that you are feeling better. Thank you so much Ruth for the inspiring poem.
What do I use to pick myself up when I’m feeling down or need some inspiration?
I will fall back on some of my favourite wisdom of words…(108 Paths to liberation by Master Sheng Yen) as follow:
1. When faced with any difficulty of life, resolve it by following these four steps: face it, accept it, deal with it, and let it go.
2. Kindness and compassion have no enemies; wisdom engenders no vexation
3. Cultivate a big heart…but small ego
4. To increase our blessings we need to recognize blessings, cherish blessings, nurture blessings and sow the seeds of blessings.
5. Deal with matters with wisdom, accommodate others with compassion.
6. The meaning of life lies in serving, the value of life in giving.
THANK YOU

Ian Blei, Integral Coach, San Francisco says
What a beautiful, thorough, and articulate “synopsis” of the real purpose of coaching. To help others bring all of this to fruition. That’s what it’s all about. 🙂
I also have a slightly altered approach to fear, just in case this is helpful or useful to anyone?
Rather than walking with it and accepting it as it comes, (and I do agree with not beating yourself up about having it) but taking one step deeper, using mindfulness to recognize it, then its purpose, then using it appropriately and proportionately. This helps split “anxiety” (emotional core) from “fear” (physical danger) which allows us to solve the right equation.
Eg. we can’t fight a “fear” of speaking, when it’s really “anxiety.” When we solve for why we feel anxiety, we can solve the equation. (We’re usually not afraid that we’ll break bones, fall off a cliff, or be attacked by saber toothed cats when speaking. It’s usually… criticism and judgement)
Glad you’re feeling better, Ruth!
